PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Springs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Vegata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Antonio Vegata told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Springs throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vegata sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Springs misses the jab.
Springs fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vegata manages to avoid it.
Nate Springs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Springs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Vegata swivels and escapes.
Springs throws a right hand that Vegata ducks under and follows up with a left that Vegata also avoids with ease.
Springs lands with an uppercut that bounces Vegata off the cage and back into range.

Vegata dives in and grabs Springs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Springs pushes down on Vegata's head and hops out.

Vegata changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Springs tries to avoid it but Vegata manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Springs to the ground. Springs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nate Springs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Vegata.

A telegraphed right hand from Springs misses the target.
Springs throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vegata stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Vegata is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Springs.
Springs just misses with a punch to the body.

Vegata keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Springs shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vegata as he jumps to the side.
Vegata jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Springs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vegata sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Springs somewhat.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Springs dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Vegata throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

A close second round but Antonio Vegata will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Vegata takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Springs swings for the body but Vegata moves out of range.
Vegata throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Vegata shoots in and bounces Springs off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Springs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vegata can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
