PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Craig Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Suon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Who - Baba O'Riley. Suon has chosen Seether as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Craig Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Suon!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suon drops his hands momentarily and Davis takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Davis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Davis lands in his opponent's guard.
Davis working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Suon's head.
Davis throwing strikes but missing.
Davis keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Suon's head.

Davis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Suon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Davis, into his guard.
Suon trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Davis pulls Suon in close to prevent any damage.

Suon trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom.
Davis wants to sweep but no luck.

Suon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Suon won't allow Davis to sweep him here.
Davis trying to keep a closed guard but Suon is proving a slippery customer.
Davis looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Davis tries to strike from the bottom.
Davis keeping moving, preventing Suon from controlling successfully.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Suon shoots and misses
and Davis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Davis thows a body shot but no joy.
Suon is looking to clinch.
Davis punishes Suon's body with a nice straight punch.
Suon misses the shot to the body.
Suon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Davis is fending him off so far but Suon persists. Nope, Davis circles away and we're back to standing.
Suon looks gassed!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Davis.
Davis throws a leg kick that misses.
Suon misses with a takedown attempt
and Davis counters with a nice low kick that buckles Suon's knee momentarily.
Craig Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Suon.

Davis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Suon sprawls well initially but Davis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Davis working over Suon with some ground and pound. Suon looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Davis is tying to control. Suon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Suon is trying to get back to full guard.
Davis stalling away here and it's allowed Suon to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Suon looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Suon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Davis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Suon keeping full guard, as Davis tries to pass.
Davis throws a strike but Suon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Suon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Davis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Davis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Davis!
Davis throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Suon works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Suon makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Davis is looking to chop away at Suon's legs.

Davis clinches up against the cage.

Suon manages to break the clinch.
Suon fails with an attempt to clinch.

Davis gets caught flat footed, as Suon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Suon won't allow Davis to sweep him here.
Suon passes into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Davis gets full guard.
Davis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig Davis dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Davis passes Suon's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Suon wants to get back to full guard but Davis has mounted him!
Davis has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Suon's face.
Davis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Suon looks a forlorn figure.

Davis takes Suon's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Suon is in trouble.

Davis tries to keep control of the position but Suon is staying busy.
Davis is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Suon. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Davis here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Suon defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Davis is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Davis gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Davis gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Davis apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Davis throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Suon because Davis loaded up on that one.

Davis thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Davis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Suon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Suon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well Davis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
