The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rooney misses with a body shot.
Matsuka circles away from the clinch attempt.

Matsuka shoots in and drives through. Rooney sprawls well.
Rooney misses with a kick to the body.

Rooney gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Matsuka to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Rooney keeping moving, preventing Matsuka from controlling successfully.
Matsuka advances to half guard.
Matsuka moves into full mount! Rooney won't be happy about that!
Matsuka wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Matsuka throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Rooney because Matsuka loaded up on that one.

Matsuka looking to secure an arm triangle but Rooney defends it well.
Matsuka can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rooney is looking to escape.
Matsuka is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rooney is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Matsuka looking to isolate an arm here. Rooney doesn't see it coming and as Matsuka extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Matsuka!
