PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brick Top (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Kauffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Top might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Killing in the name . Kauffman has chosen Lil Wayne- Up up and away as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brick Top!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chad Kauffman!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jonathan Paton and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kauffman plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Top throws a sloppy head kick and Kauffman moves out of range easily.
Kauffman lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Top ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kauffman moves away.
A jab from Kauffman misses.
Top tries to clinch but fails miserably
letting Kauffman counter with a right hand.
Kauffman lands a head kick!
Top walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Top tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Top is looking to clinch.
Top loads up on a big right hand but Kauffman slips the punch.
Top throws a head kick that misses.

Top drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kauffman pulls his leg out and moves away.

Kauffman tests Top's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Top stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Top wants it to stay on the feet.

Top throws a jab when Kauffman was well out of range.

and Kauffman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Top swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Top misses with a body shot
and Kauffman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Top shoots in for a double leg but Kauffman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kauffman dodges the punch combination from Top.
Kauffman lands a front kick.
Kauffman feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tops jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Kauffman counters with a nice body kick.

so Kauffman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Top wants to stand but Kauffman is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kauffman looking to sit in guard and control but Top gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Top accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kauffman is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Top wants to get up but he can't break Kauffman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Top throwing strikes but missing.
Kauffman working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kauffman pulls Top in close to his closed guard and prevents Top from doing any damage or advancing position.
Top with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Top slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kauffman tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chad Kauffman dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Top jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kauffman lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Kauffman fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Top has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Top misses with a hook.
Kauffman dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kauffman fails with the takedown.
Kauffman shoots for a double leg takedown but Top sprawls well. He's pushed Kauffman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Top plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

It looks like Chad Kauffman has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kauffman uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Top.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Kauffman takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Kauffman seems to have recovered his senses.

Chad Kauffman seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Kauffman moves into range and clinches up with Top.
Top swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Top misses with the head strike.
Top lands a hook that snaps the head of Kauffman backwards.
Kauffman lands with a short shot to the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Top creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Top drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kauffman gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kauffman lands a right hand.
Top is trying to break the clinch but Kauffman is controlling him.

Kauffman has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Top is trying to keep an underhook but Kauffman manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Kauffman looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Kauffman is looking to take a break and control but Top is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Top tries to kick Kauffman off but Kauffman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kauffman wants to take a breather but Top is having none of it.
Kauffman lands strikes from half guard.

Top looking for submissions off his back.

Kauffman is trying to control the action in half guard but Top is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Top is trying desperately to improve position.
Kauffman lands with some strikes.
Top in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Kauffman pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Kauffman postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Top badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Kauffman around the waist but Kauffman pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Kauffman is the winner by TKO! Kauffman jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
