Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Riley!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Riley.
Riley's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Matos connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Riley scrambles back to his feet.


It looks like Chris Riley has been cut.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Matos, as that shot connected.
Matos clobbers Riley with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

This has been an exciting period of action!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The strikes coming from Riley are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Riley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Riley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Riley might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Let's hope that Riley has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
