PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Westside (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terraf ZakieT (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). ZakieT has chosen Hef Bundy as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Terraf ZakieT!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Westside misses the target.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from ZakieT is defended easily by Westside.
ZakieT shoots for a takedown but Westside saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
ZakieT takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
ZakieT drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
ZakieT blocks a leg kick.
Westside lands with a kick to the temple. ZakieT shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

ZakieT clinches up with Westside and pushes him back against the cage.
ZakieT lands a knee to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
ZakieT trying to land knees to the body.
Westside tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
ZakieT comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Westside stalling in the clinch.
ZakieT tries to land a knee to the head but Westside blocks with his arms.
ZakieT is trying to push Westside away but Westside has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Westside is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

ZakieT's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Westside misses with a low kick.
ZakieT shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Westside as he jumps to the side.
Teddy Westside has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terraf ZakieT.
ZakieT's corner calls for a 1-2. ZakieT obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Westside throws a right hand that ZakieT ducks under and follows up with a left that ZakieT also avoids with ease.
A looping hook to the body misses from Westside. ZakieT does a little dance to reset his feet.
ZakieT takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Westside fails to land with a series of punches.
ZakieT misses with a head kick.
Westside lands with a cross.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Westside enables ZakieT to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Westside manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

ZakieT decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Westside, up you get!

Teddy Westside is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

so ZakieT counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Westside is breathing heavily.
Westside wants to get back to his feet but ZakieT is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Westside being controlled here, momentarily.
Let's hope that ZakieT has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Terraf ZakieT has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Westside misses with a head kick.
Westside avoids the head kick by ZakieT.

ZakieT shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

ZakieT controlling the position easily from mount.
Westside is looking to improve his position but ZakieT isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
ZakieT landing strikes from the mount and Westside is in trouble!
ZakieT controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Terraf ZakieT dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Westside cracks ZakieT with a right hand to the side of the head.
Westside tries to land a leg kick but ZakieT saw it coming and moves away.
ZakieT fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Westside gets caught napping as ZakieT dives in and scores a takedown. Westside manages to retain guard.

Some bone on bone action there as ZakieT checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from ZakieT.
ZakieT ducks under a wild hook from Westside.

Westside wants to clinch up but ZakieT keeps it at a distance.
ZakieT tries to score a power double leg takedown but Westside sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten ZakieT somewhat.
Teddy Westside has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terraf ZakieT.
Westside goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
ZakieT will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
ZakieT tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Westside swivels and escapes.
Westside takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Westside goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

ZakieT tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

ZakieT decides to stand back up. ZakieT steps back and let's Westside get back to his feet.

Westside thows a left - swing and a miss!

ZakieT shoots in and bounces Westside off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
ZakieT forces his way into half guard.

Westside is trying to maintain the position but ZakieT is very close to passing his half guard.

ZakieT escapes and gets back to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Westside as ZakieT shoots in.
ZakieT shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Westside defends it nicely.
Horrible takedown by ZakieT or perhaps it was just good defense by Westside which made him look bad.

ZakieT fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Westside avoids it really well and circles away.
ZakieT looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

ZakieT shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Westside's guard.

Terraf ZakieT showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Westside punishes ZakieT's body with a nice straight punch.

ZakieT closes the distance and pushes Westside back into the cage.

Westside throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Westside stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Westside wants it to stay on the feet.

ZakieT closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - ZakieT lands in his opponent's guard.

ZakieT stands and steps away. Westside gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

ZakieT closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - ZakieT lands in his opponent's guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Westside connects with a leg kick. ZakieT looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

ZakieT shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Westside sprawls well. Westside wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. ZakieT gets slowly back to his feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Teddy Westside.
I think ZakieT has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
