Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Kenton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Kong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charlie Kenton!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenton shoots for a takedown but Kong saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kong.
Kong shoots in for a takedown but Kenton shows good takedown defense.

Kenton moves into range and clinches up with Kong.

Kong breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kong throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kenton's waist but Kenton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kong off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Kong. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kenton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kong stuffs the takedown.

Kenton gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kong throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Kong tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kong is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kenton to keep the fight standing.

Kenton drags the fight down to the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kong missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kong working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kong postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Kenton pushes Kong off and scrambles back to his feet.
Kong keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kong shoots for a takedown but Kenton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kenton pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kong back to the cage. Kenton follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like James Kong has been cut.
Kenton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kong is fending him off so far but Kenton persists. Nope, Kong circles away and we're back to standing.
Kenton stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kenton wants it to stay on the feet.

Kenton gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kenton pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kenton manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kenton controlling from the full mount.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kenton throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kong because Kenton loaded up on that one.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kenton controlling his opponent.

Kenton working for a guillotine from mount but Kong is in no mood to give up.

Kenton goes for an armbar but Kong turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kong.
Kenton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kong is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kenton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kong lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Kong is looking to work some ground and pound but Kenton has wrist control.
Kenton looking for a sweep. Not yet Kenton, not yet.
Kong postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kenton is on top in guard.

Kenton drops back looking for a leg! Kong is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kong manages to kick Kenton off! Kenton jumps back into Kong's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kenton wants to pass the guard but Kong is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Kenton dominated that round.
The cut man is working on James Kong's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kenton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kong sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kenton somewhat.
Kenton throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kong fails with the takedown.
Kenton misses with an attempted mid kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kong.
Kenton shoots in but no luck this time.
Kong tries to clinch there but Kenton circles away.

Kong shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kenton is trying to defend but Kong finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Kenton keeps control of the position for the meantime.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kong misses with a head shot. Kenton uses the momentum to regain guard.
Kong is looking to work some ground and pound but Kenton has wrist control.
Kong stopping the sweep attempt from Kenton.

Kenton working for a triangle but Kong defends it easily.
Kenton looking for a sweep. Not yet Kenton, not yet.
Kong throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Kenton is trying to control the position but Kong postures up.
Kong missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kenton thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Kenton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kenton works his way into side control.

Kenton is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kong has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kenton in side control, throwing shots but Kong defends.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kenton remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Kenton's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kenton stands up and we're back to a striking position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Kenton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on James Kong's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Kenton clinches.

Kenton pulls guard successfully.
Kong chips away with some ground and pound.
Kong tries to free his leg and advance position but Kenton is retaining full guard.
Kenton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kong is controlling him.
Kenton is trying to control the position but Kong postures up.
Kenton lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kong!
Kong blocking the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kenton tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kenton wants to control the pace but Kong is squirming around nicely.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kong is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Kong knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kenton on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kong blocking the ground and pound.
Kenton controlling from the full mount.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Charlie Kenton wasn't active enough on the ground.

Kenton has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kenton has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kong avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kong fails to pull guard.
Kong tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kenton just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kenton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kong is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kenton goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kong prevents it.
James Kong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Kenton.
Kenton stalling in the clinch but Kong improves position.
Kong tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kenton just stands there and leans against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Kenton.
Kong fails to pull guard.
Kong is trying to pull guard but Kenton turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kenton decides to pull guard.
Kenton is trying to keep Kong in close.
Kong looking to pass the guard.
Kong postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kong missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Kenton uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kenton throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Kong shoots in looking for a takedown. Kenton tries to sprawl out of it but Kong keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kenton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kenton blocks a head kick by Kong.
Kenton lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kong looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Kenton leaves Kong with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kenton throws a sloppy head kick and Kong moves out of range easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nice body punch from Kenton.

Kenton forces Kong back against the cage and clinches.
James Kong has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Charlie Kenton is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Charlie Kenton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kenton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
