The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heron throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Heron finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Silva looking for a guillotine here but Heron defends easily.
Heron stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Heron could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Heron shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Silva shoots for a takedown but Heron saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Heron is trying to trip Silva. He has hold of a leg but Silva is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Heron persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Heron gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Heron has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Silva has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Heron has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Silva is in real trouble here. Heron gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Silva is tapping out! Heron wins by rear naked choke!
