The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sladkov fails to land with a series of punches.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sladkov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alves.
Alves throws a hook to the side of Sladkov's head but Sladkov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Alves throws a lazy right hand but Sladkov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Alves will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Sladkov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Alves thinking.
Alves is breathing heavily.
Sladkov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Alves.
Danilo Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alves doesn't manage to clinch there - Sladkov circles away.

Sladkov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Alves shoots in for a takedown but Sladkov shows good takedown defense.

Alves throws a jab but it's blocked by Sladkov.

Sladkov drives through and clinches with Alves against the cage.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Sladkov drops Alves with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Alves looks back up at him and smiles so Sladkov waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alves is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Sladkov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alves circles away quickly and effectively.

Alves throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Sladkov takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Sladkov cracks Alves with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Alves falls to his knees and Sladkov doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
