Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Salcedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rua comes to the cage accompanied by AVANTASIA-Seven Angels. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salcedo tries to bum rush Rua with a series of wild strikes but Rua uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rua closes the distance and clinches up with Salcedo, looking for a takedown. Rua pushes Salcedo against the cage but Salcedo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rua throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Salcedo.

and Salcedo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Donk. Rua catches Salcedo right on the button with a cross.
Salcedo moves in looking to clinch but Rua pushes him off.

and Salcedo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Rua counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Salcedo thinking.

Salcedo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Salcedo slips a nice elbow through Rua's hands, connecting with Rua's forehead.

Salcedo is looking for a kimura but Rua is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Salcedo to get the leverage.

Rua is defending against the submission attempts here by Salcedo.

Salcedo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rua dives on top into guard.

Salcedo has his foot on Rua's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rua works his way back into a safe position though.
Rua lands a couple of elbows.

Rua is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Salcedo has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Rua is looking to defend but Salcedo has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Rua! Salcedo pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Rua taps out and this one is all over!

In his post fight interview, Jose Salcedo started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
