PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Basic Three (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Gunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Gunter struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Basic Three!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Gunter!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gunter feints and as Three raises his hands in defense, Gunter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Gunter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Gunter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Three is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gunter, into his guard.
Three wants to control from the top but Gunter keeps moving.

Three stops Gunter from standing up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gunter throws a series of punches but Three avoids them all with ease.
Three doesn't manage to clinch there - Gunter circles away.
Three tries to clinch but Gunter is having none of it.

Gunter throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Three tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gunter is in Three's guard.

Three lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gunter!
Three sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Three throws a strike there. Gunter manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Basic Three.

Gunter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

No joy there for Three, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gunter cracks Three with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Three is pressed up against the cage. Gunter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Three down to the mat. Three avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

A jab-cross combination lands for Three and sends Gunter crashing to the mat! Three follows him down to the mat - Gunter regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
