Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Petri Saarinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Smith!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Smith passes the guard and advances to mount!

Saarinen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Saarinen manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Smith wants to work for an arm triangle but Saarinen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

It looks like Smith might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Smith postures up in Saarinen's guard and throws a big left but Saarinen blocks it.

Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Saarinen defends it nicely.

Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Saarinen.

Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Saarinen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
