PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darth Penguin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darth Penguin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs wants to clinch
and Penguin counters with an outside leg kick.
Jacobs doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Penguin counters with a right hand to the body.

Penguin closes the distance and clinches.

Penguin pulls guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Penguin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Penguin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jacobs gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Penguin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Penguin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Penguin slows the pace down.

Penguin decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jacobs to his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jacobs shoots and misses

and Penguin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Penguin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jacobs swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jacobs looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jacobs is breathing heavily.

Penguin stands and steps away. Jacobs gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Penguin counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Penguin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jacobs has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Penguin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Penguin is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Jacobs is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
