PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Graham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Nasri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lance Nasri was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Graham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lance Nasri!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graham showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nasri.
Graham shoots in and drives through. Nasri sprawls well.
Nasri works over Graham's head and body with a nice combination.

and Nasri counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Nasri throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Nasri tests Graham's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Lance Nasri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nasri throws a series of punches but Graham avoids them all with ease.
Graham shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Graham. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Graham uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nasri.
Nasri throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Nasri looks to land a combination but Graham avoids it well.
Nasri stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nasri wants it to stay on the feet.

Nasri keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Graham takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Graham shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nasri pinned against the cage. Nasri gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No joy there for Nasri, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Graham is defended easily by Nasri.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Graham. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lance Nasri is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nasri throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Nasri ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Nasri throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nasri dodges the punch combination from Graham.
Graham shoots in looking for a takedown. Nasri tries to sprawl out of it but Graham keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nasri manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Graham takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Nasri ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Graham closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Nasri dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Nasri is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Graham rather than just go for the knockout.

Nasri wants to stand up but Graham is controlling the position.
Graham is staying active underneath Nasri, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nasri looks like he's trying to stand up.

Graham is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Nasri wants to get back to his feet.
Nasri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Graham. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Graham has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Nasri! Can he survive? No! He's out! Graham gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Marcus Graham!
