And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Piolo Pascual!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pascual darts in trying to clinch

and Masatupo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Masatupo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Masatupo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pascual is just riding it out for now. Masatupo eventually gives up the hold.

Pascual is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Haiki Masatupo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Masatupo is working to tighten is grip on Pascual's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Pascual has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Masatupo is really squeezing tight and eventually Pascual passes out! Masatupo breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
