PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Muskeli Mies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mac Reeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mies comes to the cage accompanied by The way of the fist. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Muskeli Mies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mac Reeves!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mies!

Reeves shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mies napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Reeves throwing shots but missing, from side control.

Reeves thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mies wants to control but Reeves postures up.
Reeves throwing strikes but Mies manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Reeves is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mies's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Mies takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Muskeli Mies wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Reeves moves out of range as Mies strikes.

Reeves feints and as Mies raises his hands in defense, Reeves changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Reeves has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mies is proving hard to escape from.

Mies is trying to control the position but Reeves postures up.
Reeves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mies swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Reeves throws a big right hand that misses.
Reeves wants to control from the top but Mies keeps moving.
Reeves wants to pass the guard but Mies is keeping the position.
Mies will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Reeves thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mies wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Reeves.

Reeves is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mies has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mies!

Mies has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Muskeli Mies.
Mies swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mies scores with a jab. Reeves acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Reeves bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Reeves decides to stand back up. Reeves steps back and let's Mies get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Reeves wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Mac Reeves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Reeves with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mies to score with a decent uppercut.

Reeves shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Reeves was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Reeves wants to control the pace but Mies is squirming around nicely.

Mies is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Reeves goes for an armbar but Mies turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mies.
Reeves has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mies is stalling in the full guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

We're going to have a standup here because Muskeli Mies wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Reeves lands an overhand right.
Mies connects with a nice looking jab.

Reeves manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mies on his heels. He'll look to pass Mies's guard now, I'm sure.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mac Reeves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Reeves shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Mies is staying active underneath Reeves, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mies is controlling Reeves's trapped leg to prevent Reeves from advancing to side control.

Mac Reeves is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Reeves is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
