Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Calzaghe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melekh David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Melekh David!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calzaghe moves out of range as David strikes.

Calzaghe scores with a takedown into David's guard.
Calzaghe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Calzaghe trying to control the position from guard on top but David is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
David has his hands on Calzaghe's head, controlling the position.
Calzaghe wants to control from the top but David keeps moving.
David is adopting a defensive guard.
Calzaghe is in close to David's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Calzaghe scoring with some ground and pound.
Calzaghe throwing strikes but missing.
Calzaghe trying to control but David is working from the bottom.

Calzaghe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
David looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Calzaghe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. David swivels though and keeps the full guard.
David pulls Calzaghe in close to prevent any damage.
David is trying to keep Calzaghe in close.
David has his hands on Calzaghe's head, controlling the position.
David keeping full guard, as Calzaghe tries to pass.

Melekh David has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
David misses with a hook.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
David throws a right hand that Calzaghe ducks under and follows up with a left that Calzaghe also avoids with ease.
David scores with a nice head shot.

David scores a takedown into full mount!
David trying to control but he's not successful this time.
David lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee warns Calzaghe that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
David lands a big elbow.
Calzaghe working to try and regain half guard.
Calzaghe really wants to buck David off and get back to his feet.
Calzaghe is desperately trying to improve his position but David has a good base and remains in mount.
David putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Calzaghe regains half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

David is looking to advance position but Calzaghe won't allow it.
David is nestled in close to Calzaghe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Calzaghe looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
David is looking to take a break and control but Calzaghe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
David looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
David seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Well, if David is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
David seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Calzaghe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Calzaghe is trying to control but can't.
Calzaghe trying to get back to full guard but David takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
David tries to control but Calzaghe wriggling away.

Calzaghe is trying to escape the mount.
David cracks Calzaghe with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Calzaghe is in a horrible position here. David smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Calzaghe is bucking up trying to escape but David cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


Calzaghe is rocked!
David connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Oh Calzaghe is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
David postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Calzaghe in real trouble here! The ref calls for Calzaghe to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Melekh David!
Melekh David decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
