Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Doctore Oenomaus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreh Whitaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Whitaker decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Whitaker isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Oenomaus stacks Whitaker on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Oenomaus!

Whitaker is fighting to break Oenomaus's control of his arms but Oenomaus is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Oenomaus tries to stall but Whitaker uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
A head punch on the inside from Oenomaus fails to land.
Oenomaus comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Oenomaus has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Whitaker after a bit of a struggle.
Oenomaus tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Oenomaus has had enough of the clinch but Whitaker keeps him there for the moment.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Oenomaus shoots in for a takedown but Whitaker shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Whitaker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Oenomaus paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Oenomaus throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Whitaker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Oenomaus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Whitaker somewhat.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Oenomaus connects with a nice short shot to Whitaker's temple.

Whitaker tries to close the distance and clinch but Oenomaus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Whitaker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Whitaker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Oenomaus kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Whitaker fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Oenomaus checks it well.

Oenomaus gets to his feet - Whitaker follows without any prompting.

and Whitaker counters by moving into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Doctore Oenomaus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Whitaker has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Oenomaus is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Whitaker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Doctore Oenomaus.
