Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roy Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Earl Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Simmons's choice of entrance music: DMX - Who We Be. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roy Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Earl Simmons!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons takes a swing at Brown's ribcage but misses.
Simmons tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brown sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Simmons somewhat.
Brown fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Simmons manages to avoid it.
Simmons defending well as Brown loads up on a big left hand.
Simmons lands a nice looking body shot.
Simmons gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Brown misses with a lunging right hand
and Simmons counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Roy Brown has been cut.
Simmons shoots in looking for a takedown but Brown manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Simmons's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Brown slaps away a takedown attempt from Simmons, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Roy Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Earl Simmons.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Simmons uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Brown.

Simmons shoots in and bounces Brown off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Simmons tries to free his leg and advance position but Brown is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Simmons thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Simmons controls from within his opponent's guard.

Simmons controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Earl Simmons hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Brown stuffs the takedown.
Crunch! Simmons slams his shin into Brown's torso.
Simmons uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brown.
Brown misses with a shot to the body
and Simmons counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Roy Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
No luck for Simmons with that takedown attempt.
Simmons ducks under a wild hook from Brown.

A looping hook to the body misses from Brown. Simmons does a little dance to reset his feet.
Brown ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Simmons fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Brown has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Brown is breathing heavily.
Brown throws an overhand right that lands on Simmons's shoulder, as Simmons tries to avoid the shot.
Simmons with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Simmons lands with a shot to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Simmons changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Simmons fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Brown has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Simmons goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Brown throws a shot from downtown. Simmons moves away and avoids it.
Brown misses with a straight left.

Simmons gets the takedown into side control.
Simmons lands a nice forearm strike.
Brown is working to avoid the ground and pound but Simmons connects with a decent elbow.
Brown is letting Simmons control him for a moment.

Simmons stands up and beckons Brown to his feet.
Simmons fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Simmons instigates a clinch.
Simmons lands an uppercut.
Simmons lands a shoulder strike.
A frustrated look appears on Brown's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Brown blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Simmons takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Simmons lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brown is trying to push Simmons away but Simmons has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Simmons working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Simmons lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Brown backwards.
Simmons lands a left hand that snaps the head of Brown backwards.
Simmons scores with a shot to the side of Brown's head.
Brown tries to circle away but Simmons has him pinned against the cage.

Simmons's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Brown lands a lovely overhand right.
Brown stuns Simmons with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Simmons moves out of range of the strikes.
Simmons closes the distance and clinches up with Brown, looking for a takedown. Simmons pushes Brown against the cage but Brown circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Simmons counters with a slapping leg kick.
Nice defenses there by Simmons.
Brown connects with a crisp jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Brown enables Simmons to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Brown manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Simmons is stalling in the full guard.
Brown on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Brown tries to get out of the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Simmons passes into half guard.
Simmons looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Simmons not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Simmons thows a huge punch but Brown dodges it nicely.
Simmons is controlling the pace.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Simmons decides to return to a standing position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Simmons lands with a nice body punch.
Simmons throws a head kick that misses.
Brown throws the left hand but Simmons avoids the punch easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Earl Simmons showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Simmons dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Brown. That did some damage!

Brown stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Simmons throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Brown is trying to break the clinch but Simmons has him pressed against the cage.
Simmons lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Brown.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brown wants to stand but Simmons has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Simmons uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brown.
Brown displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Simmons throws out the jab.

Simmons throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown's waist but Brown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Simmons off to one side.
Brown comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Simmons uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Brown.
Simmons shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brown but Brown pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Brown throws a lazy right hand but Simmons sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
The fighters circle momentarily. Brown darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


Simmons is rocked!

Simmons leaves his chin hanging out and Brown seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Simmons crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Roy Brown!
