PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Dirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Michaels might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sexy Boy. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Michaels.
Dirt misses with a few strikes there.
Dirt connects with a looping right hand.
Dirt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Michaels paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dirt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Michaels's waist but Michaels gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dirt off to one side.
Michaels avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dirt loads up on a big right hand but Michaels slips the punch.
Dirt misses with a hook

and Michaels counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Michaels is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Michaels thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Michaels passes into half guard.

Michaels is working for a submission of some sort.

Michaels is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dirt is just riding it out for now. Michaels eventually gives up the hold.
Dirt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Michaels. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Michaels has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Dirt defend it? Michaels steps over the head and cranks it - Dirt is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Michaels!

After the fight, Shawn Michaels was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
