Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kazuo Takeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Dengel!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Takeda pushes Dengel up against the cage in a clinch.
Dengel lands an uppercut.

Dengel manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Dengel keeping full guard, as Takeda tries to pass.
Takeda postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Takeda slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dengel trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Takeda sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Takeda drops back looking for a leg! Dengel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dengel manages to kick Takeda off! Takeda jumps back into Dengel's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Takeda has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Dengel being controlled here, momentarily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Kazuo Takeda just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Takeda fails with a takedown attempt.
Dengel shoots in but Takeda avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dengel drops Takeda with a left and a right! Oh, Takeda is hurt - Dengel dives into side control looking to finish!


It looks like Kazuo Takeda has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dengel tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Takeda manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Takeda seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Takeda slows the pace down in half guard.
Dengel tries to roll over but Takeda keeps him under control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Takeda prevents Dengel from standing back up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Takeda connects with a nice short shot to Dengel's temple.
Dengel tries to get to full guard but Takeda has control of the leg.
Dengel looks gassed!
Dengel is looking to escape.
Takeda is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Takeda is trying for a kimura here. Dengel looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Takeda wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kazuo Takeda!
