Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lincoln Bashor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lincoln Bashor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kevin Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson shoots in for a takedown but Bashor shows good takedown defense.

Bashor shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nelson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Bashor looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Nelson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bashor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We're going to have a standup here because Lincoln Bashor wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Nelson lands a big head kick that sends Bashor tumbling to the mat! Nelson takes a step backwards and waves Bashor back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Lincoln Bashor has been cut.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Bashor moves into full guard.

Bashor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nelson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nelson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nelson wants to stand and escape but instead Bashor has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Nelson is looking to stand up but Bashor isn't so interested in that idea.
Bashor not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bashor has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Bashor seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nelson for as long as he can get away with.

Bashor takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Nelson is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Bashor tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bashor slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bashor is staying tight to Nelson's torso, preventing him from escaping.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Nelson slaps away a takedown attempt from Bashor, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nelson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bashor's waist but Bashor gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nelson off to one side.

Bashor changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nelson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bashor thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Nelson is letting Bashor control him for a moment.

Nelson wants to get back to his feet but Bashor drags him back down.
Nelson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bashor wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nelson, who protects the arm well.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Bashor landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Nelson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bashor asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Bashor is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nelson can do to turn this around?
Bashor looks up at the clock and then as Nelson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bashor smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Bashor is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Nelson is pushing Bashor's head away, looking to escape. Bashor manages to hold on to the position though.

Lincoln Bashor has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Bashor closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Lincoln Bashor is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Lincoln Bashor showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bashor, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
