Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mat Matmat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Handly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matmat's entrance music is pass tha axe. A fine choice. Handly has chosen You Dropped a bomb on me as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Handly!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Handly throws a hook but Matmat avoids it easily.
Matmat avoids the body shot from Handly.
Handly checks a leg kick nicely.
Matmat throws the left hand but Handly avoids the punch easily.
Handly pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Handly connects with an inside leg kick.

Matmat shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Handly napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Handly tries to bench press Matmat off him but Matmat keeps the position.
Handly seems a little lost for a moment, as Matmat dominates the positioning.
Matmat is looking to take a break and control but Handly is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Matmat sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Handly is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Handly is trying to control Matmat's posture but Matmat avoids it.
Handly avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Matmat.
Matmat is trying to ground and pound but Handly uses the momentary lack of control by Matmat to regain half guard.

Handly wants to get back to his feet.
Handly tries to roll over but Matmat keeps him under control.
Matmat wants to free his trapped foot but Handly is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Matmat thows a huge punch but Handly dodges it nicely.

Handly has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Matmat is working away from the top position though.

Handly pushes Matmat off and gets back to his feet.
Handly throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Matmat.
Matmat takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Handly connects with a body shot that sends Matmat's belly button to the back.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Matmat checks a leg kick.
Matmat jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Matmat has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Handly is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Matmat misses with an elbow over the top.
Matmat working aggressively here.
Handly connects with a nasty looking knee right to Matmat's face.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Handly creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Matmat is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Handly is defending well.

Matmat lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Handly or not.
Come on Matmat - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Handly prevents a takedown attempt there.
Handly trying to land knees to the body.
Handly tries to land a knee to the head but Matmat blocks with his arms.
Handly lands an elbow just above Matmat 's eye.
Handly is trying to push Matmat away but Matmat has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Matmat wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mat Matmat. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Matmat is trying to drag Handly to the mat but Handly just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Matmat lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Handly tries to throw a body punch but Matmat avoids it by throwing Handly back against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Handly pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Handly blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Handly just misses with a elbow thrown towards Matmat's brow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mat Matmat dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Matmat shoots in and bounces Handly off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Matmat throws an elbow that misses. Handly uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Matmat's guard. Nice move by Handly!

Handly sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Matmat doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Handly paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Matmat - great work!
