PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vinny Ruggiero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Trent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trent comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Panama kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruggiero throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Ruggiero fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ruggiero tries to close the distance and clinch up but Trent swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ruggiero is trying to drag Trent to the mat but Trent just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Trent slaps away a takedown attempt from Ruggiero, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Trent.
Ruggiero tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Trent paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Trent should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Ruggiero shoots in but Trent avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Trent lands with a nice combination. Ruggiero backs away looking to recover.

It looks like Vinny Ruggiero has been cut.
Trent tried to score with a low kick but Ruggiero checks it.

Ruggiero drives through and clinches with Trent against the cage.

Ruggiero drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Trent gets the underhooks and prevents it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Trent wants to control from the top but Ruggiero keeps moving.
Trent controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That was a close round but I would say that Vinny Ruggiero will probably get the nod.

After the fight, Jimmy Trent was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
