PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keith Andaya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Master Enki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keith Andaya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Master Enki!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Enki on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Andaya misses with a left hand
letting Enki counter with a right hand.

Andaya shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Enki napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Andaya misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Andaya trying to control the action but Enki is working from the bottom.
Enki is looking to reverse the position.
Andaya misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Andaya grinds an elbow into Enki's temple.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Andaya tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Andaya has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Enki is trying to control Andaya's posture but Andaya avoids it.
Andaya is looking to take a break and control but Enki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Enki struggling a bit here.
Enki tries to escape but Andaya is in control.
Andaya looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Enki is avoiding damage well.
Andaya working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Andaya is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Enki knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Enki manages to get back to half guard.

Enki throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Andaya might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Andaya lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Andaya accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Andaya looking to sit in guard and control but Enki gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Enki postures up in Andaya's guard and throws a big left but Andaya blocks it.
Enki wants to stand but Andaya has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Enki is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Andaya is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Andaya has escaped and now he's on top!

Enki throws an elbow that misses. Andaya uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Enki's guard. Nice move by Andaya!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Andaya postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Andaya stops Enki from standing up.

Enki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Andaya is aware though and is defending well.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Andaya looks to land a right hand but Enki moved out of range.
Andaya will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Enki counters by moving into the clinch.
Andaya blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Andaya looks to land a left hand but Enki moved out of range nicely.

Andaya is working for a submission of some sort.

Enki controlling the position for now.
Andaya is trying to control. Enki wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Enki tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Enki is pressing down on Andaya's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Andaya takes a decent strike to the side of the head.

Enki has his foot on Andaya's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Andaya works his way back into a safe position though.

Enki is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Andaya doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Enki.

Enki throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Andaya to regain full guard.

Enki stands up and waves to Andaya to follow him.
Andaya throws a hook but Enki avoids it easily.
Enki ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Enki tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Andaya avoids it.

Enki gets underhooks to prevent Andaya's takedown attempt.
Andaya is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Enki pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keith Andaya. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Enki pulls guard successfully.
Andaya wants to control from the top but Enki keeps moving.
Enki is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Enki wants to sweep here but Andaya controlling him for the moment.

Master Enki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Enki misses with the combination.
Enki clobbers Andaya with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Andaya is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Enki's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Enki throws a series of punches but Andaya avoids them all with ease.
Andaya shoots in for a takedown but Enki shows good takedown defense.
Enki throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Master Enki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Enki misses with a two punch combination.
Andaya lands a jab-cross combination.
Andaya ducks under a wild hook from Enki.
Enki uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Andaya.
Andaya throws an overhand right that lands on Enki's shoulder, as Enki tries to avoid the shot.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Andaya, as that shot connected.

Andaya feints and as Enki raises his hands in defense, Andaya changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Andaya thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Enki working a defensive guard but Andaya manages to pass into side control anyway.
Andaya wants to lay and pray for a moment but Enki keeps working.
Enki prevents Andaya from moving into mount.
Enki is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Andaya tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Andaya tries to score with some ground and pound. Enki controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Andaya works to advance to full mount. Enki defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Andaya is looking to work some ground and pound but Enki has wrist control.
Keith Andaya overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Keith Andaya.
I think Andaya has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
