PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hal Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doctor Pepper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilson comes to the cage accompanied by Ruff Ryders anthem. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilson gets the takedown into side control.

Wilson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pepper knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Wilson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pepper keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pepper is staying active underneath Wilson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Wilson wants to pass to mount but Pepper is defending the position.
Wilson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pepper on the ground.

Pepper seems to be looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pepper trying to mount his opponent but Wilson defends it.

Pepper misses with a takedown

and Wilson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Wilson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Pepper trying to control from the bottom.
Wilson is tying to control. Pepper wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Wilson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Wilson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Wilson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Hal Wilson just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Pepper throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wilson sees it coming and avoids it easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pepper fails with the takedown

and Wilson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pepper's guard.

Wilson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Pepper throws a left and a right that both miss

and Wilson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Pepper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wilson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wilson slips nicely into half guard.

Wilson trying to control from Pepper's half guard. Pepper has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Wilson wants to control from the top but Pepper keeps moving.

Pepper has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Wilson should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Pepper has tightened it up now! Wilson should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
