Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Filo Bedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Smith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bedo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Smith has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Bedo throws a series of strikes that have Smith backpedaling.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Bedo checks a leg kick.
Smith moves out of range as Bedo strikes.
Bedo throws a front kick aimed at Smith's knee but Smith avoids it well.
Smith fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Bedo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Smith tries to bum rush Bedo with a series of wild strikes but Bedo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bedo shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Smith eats them both and turns towards Bedo to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Good leg kick by Bedo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Bedo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Smith's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Bedo lands a leg kick that knocks Smith off balance momentarily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Smith crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Bedo - the referee stops the clock and Smith gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Bedo. Smith manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
