Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ren Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vlad The Impaler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie's entrance music is Wu-Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck. A fine choice. Vlad The Impaler will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Impaler lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Gracie sprawling to the canvas. The Impaler follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Gracie hang on?

Gracie is rocked!

It looks like Ren Gracie has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The Impaler wants to stand up but Gracie has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Oh Gracie is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The Impaler sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gracie defending well though.

The Impaler is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Gracie is looking to improve his position.
Gracie seems to have got his legs back now.

Gracie tries to roll over but The Impaler keeps him under control.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but The Impaler pulls his head out easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The Impaler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.

The Impaler is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The Impaler throws a strike but Gracie avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
The Impaler wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but The Impaler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The Impaler in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Impaler postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gracie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of The Impaler, into his guard.

The Impaler is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Impaler swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gracie stops The Impaler from standing up.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! The Impaler is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and The Impaler manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into The Impaler's guard.

The Impaler trying to keep a closed guard but Gracie is proving a slippery customer.
The Impaler has Gracie pulled in close to control his posture.

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and The Impaler has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between The Impaler's legs - danger averted.

Gracie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but The Impaler manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gracie has The Impaler in his guard.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. The Impaler defends it easily.

The Impaler stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Gracie has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! The Impaler manages to get his head free but now Gracie has transitioned to an armbar! The Impaler grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Gracie! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
