Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Evan D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan D!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Taylor!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

D closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Taylor to the mat! Taylor manages to get full guard.
D slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Taylor not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
D controls from within his opponent's guard.
Taylor pulls D in close to his closed guard and prevents D from doing any damage or advancing position.
D controlling from the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Evan D.

D looking to score a takedown here. Taylor is defending well but D drives through and ends up in Taylor's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
D wants to pass the guard but Taylor is keeping the position.
Taylor keeping moving, preventing D from controlling successfully.

D loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Taylor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in D's guard.

Taylor postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! D is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Taylor, into his guard.

D is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Taylor can do anything to dispel that myth.
D prevents Taylor from getting back to his feet.

D drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and D jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Taylor wants to stand and escape but D is having none of it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
D throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
D tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Taylor swivels and escapes.
Taylor stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Taylor wants it to stay on the feet.

D throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Taylor tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. D is in Taylor's guard.

D stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Taylor swivels though and keeps the full guard.
D stops Taylor from standing up.
Taylor pulls D in close to prevent any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jon Taylor.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Taylor is defended easily by D.
Taylor looks gassed!
D closes the distance and clinches up with Taylor, looking for a takedown. D pushes Taylor against the cage but Taylor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Evan D. That's going to take a lot out of him.

D wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.
D stands up over Taylor, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Taylor wants to sweep here but D controlling him for the moment.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


D will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Taylor misses with a takedown attempt
and D counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Taylor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? D is fending him off so far but Taylor persists. Nope, D circles away and we're back to standing.
D swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

and D decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Taylor's guard.

Taylor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and D defends well.

D is defending against the submission attempts here by Taylor.

Taylor tries to stand but his hand is stuck under D.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


D shoots for a takedown but Taylor saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

D throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

D shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Taylor napping and manages to drive through into side control!

D tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no D has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
D wants to lay and pray for a moment but Taylor keeps working.
Taylor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Taylor is trying to get back to his feet.

You can see the frustration on Taylor's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

D is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Taylor has escaped the position, nice work there.

D looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

D sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Taylor is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
D is putting a hurting on Taylor here, landing some big shots from side control.

D has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Taylor is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. D yanks on the arm and Taylor is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by D.
