PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juri Han (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kirk Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie has chosen Bodies/Drowning pool as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Juri Han has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kirk Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Han to score with a decent uppercut.

It looks like Kirk Gracie has been cut.
Gracie shoots in but Han avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Gracie throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Han tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gracie is in Han's guard.
Gracie stops Han from standing up.
Gracie trying to control but Han is working from the bottom.
Han trying to keep a closed guard but Gracie is proving a slippery customer.

Gracie drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Han dives on top into guard.
Han knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.

Han gets to his feet - Gracie follows without any prompting.
Gracie stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Han.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie avoids the head kick by Han.
Han cracks a nice hook into Gracie's ribs.
Han uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gracie.
No luck for Gracie with that takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Han throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.
Han lands with a straight right. Gracie didn't see that one coming.
Han lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Gracie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Han sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gracie somewhat.
Juri Han has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kirk Gracie.
Han misses with a head kick.
Gracie jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Han lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gracie's sensitive parts.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Han shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Han keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Han defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Han holds on and takes a little breather.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Han is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Han manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Han's guard.

Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Han swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Han throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gracie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gracie showed some decent athleticism there.

Han pushes Gracie off and gets back to his feet.
A lazy left from Han finds it's target.
Gracie steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Han.
Han cracks Gracie with an open hand slap.

Han misses with a head kick.
Juri Han is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Han swivels and escapes.
Han lands a jab to Gracie's midsection.
Han tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gracie was well out of range. Poor timing from Han.
Han rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Han gets caught napping as Gracie dives in and scores a takedown. Han manages to retain guard.
Han wants to sweep but no luck.
Gracie trying to control but Han is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Han sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A slapping leg kick lands for Han.
Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Han's waist but Han gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gracie won't allow Han to get back to his feet.
Han seems keen to control Gracie's posture.
Gracie content to stall in guard here.
Han wants to stand and escape but Gracie is having none of it.
Gracie looking to sit in guard and control but Han gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Han postures up in Gracie's guard and throws a big left but Gracie blocks it.

Han throws a big elbow that misses.
Gracie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Gracie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Han lands a couple of elbows.
Han has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Han trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.

Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Han defends well.
Han looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gracie passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Gracie wants to control but Han is keeping him busy.
Han tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Gracie looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Han doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie.
Han is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gracie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gracie's back!
Gracie looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Han lands an elbow to the side of the head.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Han lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Gracie hold on?!
Gracie biding his time here by controlling the hands, looking to escape.
Han landing with strikes.

That has opened up Kirk Gracie's cut even more.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Han is not going to allow Gracie to sit and survive in this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Can Gracie hold on?! Han is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Han lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Kirk Gracie's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Han misses with a head kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Han.
Han works the jab nicely.

The cut above Kirk Gracie's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Han plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Kirk Gracie's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kirk Gracie's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Juri Han!
After winning the bout, Juri Han thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
