Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between JohnAmund Skaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jani Pekkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skaar comes to the cage accompanied by Spiderbait - Black betty. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jani Pekkanen!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Skaar.

Skaar gets a takedown into half guard.

Skaar is looking for a kimura but Pekkanen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Skaar to get the leverage.

Pekkanen on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Pekkanen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Skaar's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Skaar's back!

Skaar manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Skaar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Skaar is trying to maintain the position but Pekkanen is very close to passing his half guard.

Skaar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pekkanen's guard.

Skaar moves into the clinch.
Pekkanen wants to stall.
Skaar has had enough of the clinch but Pekkanen keeps him there for the moment.

Skaar wants to take a breather but Pekkanen is having none of it.

Skaar looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pekkanen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Skaar sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pekkanen's guard.

Pekkanen is trying to stand back up but Skaar is controlling him
Skaar moves into full mount! Pekkanen won't be happy about that!
Skaar breaks from Pekkanen's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pekkanen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Skaar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Skaar with shots to the head and body - Pekkanen looks very uncomfortable down there.

Pekkanen manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pekkanen stuffs the takedown attempt from Skaar. Skaar gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Skaar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pekkanen won't be happy with that.

Skaar will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Skaar lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pekkanen!
Skaar is landing with some decent strikes but Pekkanen is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Skaar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
