PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rosco Coltrane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drago's entrance music is The Name of the Game. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dominic Drago!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rosco Coltrane!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drago tries to clinch but Coltrane moves out of range.

Coltrane drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Coltrane decides to stand back up.

Coltrane takes the fight into the clinch.
Coltrane tries for a takedown but Drago manages to get underhooks.

Coltrane breaks from the clinch.
Coltrane throws a nice looking combination but Drago bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Coltrane ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Drago shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Coltrane moves into the clinch.
A knee to the head by Drago.
Drago tries to land knees in the clinch but Coltrane avoids the damage to the body.
Drago just leaning against Coltrane, taking a breather.
Drago lands an elbow inside that Coltrane shrugs off.
Drago misses with a knee to the head.

Coltrane jumps into guard, dragging Drago to the mat.
Drago is standing up over Coltrane. Coltrane looks to escape but Drago dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coltrane manages to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Coltrane is looking to improve his position.
Coltrane is refusing to be controlled, as Drago sits in half guard.
Coltrane is doing well to control the position and prevent Drago from advancing to side control.
Coltrane is not content to let Drago control the position.
Coltrane tries to get to full guard but Drago has control of the leg.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Drago throwing shots but Coltrane is blocking nicely.
Drago misses with a head shot. Coltrane uses the momentum to regain guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

so Coltrane counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Coltrane passes the guard and advances to mount!

Let's hope that Coltrane has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Drago tries to hold on but Coltrane postures up.
Drago is looking to improve his position but Coltrane isn't that keen on the idea.
Coltrane lands a heavy elbow.

Drago is looking to get to half guard.

Coltrane shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Drago's guard.

Coltrane pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Drago's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Drago is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Coltrane wants to control the pace but Drago is squirming around nicely.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Drago is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Rosco Coltrane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Coltrane connects with a solid leg kick.

Coltrane connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Drago's hands.
Drago tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Coltrane counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Drago's guard now.
Coltrane looking to sit in guard and control but Drago gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Coltrane looking to hit a scissor sweep but Drago is one step ahead there.
Coltrane throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Coltrane working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Drago doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Drago manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Coltrane is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Drago is looking to get back to is feet but Coltrane passes into side control.

Coltrane tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Coltrane has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Coltrane wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Drago has him pressed against the cage.

and Coltrane counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Coltrane.
Drago is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Coltrane is controlling him.
Coltrane controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Dominic Drago has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rosco Coltrane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Coltrane winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
