Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarl Slivkoniv (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Zhukov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zhukov is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Feuer Frei. Ivan Zhukov has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jarl Slivkoniv's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zhukov lands a big uppercut and Slivkoniv crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Slivkoniv looks OK. Zhukov waves Slivkoniv back to his feet!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zhukov misses with the combination.
Oh Slivkoniv is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Zhukov throws a series of punches but Slivkoniv avoids them all with ease.

Zhukov tries to bum rush Slivkoniv with a series of wild strikes but Slivkoniv uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Zhukov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Slivkoniv is controlling him.

Zhukov scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Zhukov missing with a left hand there. Slivkoniv was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Slivkoniv misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Zhukov lands a left and a right that send Slivkoniv crashing to the mat, dazed. Zhukov thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Slivkoniv misses with a jab, cross combination.

Slivkoniv throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zhukov was covering up waiting for the punch and Slivkoniv finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Zhukov wants to stand up but Slivkoniv is controlling him.
Slivkoniv slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Slivkoniv is pushing down on Zhukov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Zhukov is fighting to maintain full guard but Slivkoniv has managed to sneak the leg through.

Zhukov pushes Slivkoniv off looking to stand but Slivkoniv dives back in and keeps control.
Zhukov is staying active underneath Slivkoniv, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Slivkoniv prevents Zhukov from standing back up.
Slivkoniv wants to control but Zhukov is keeping him busy.

Slivkoniv stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Slivkoniv wants to clinch up but Zhukov keeps it at a distance.

Zhukov throws a right hand that Slivkoniv ducks under and follows up with a left that Slivkoniv also avoids with ease.
Slivkoniv slips a jab and a cross from Zhukov.
Zhukov looks gassed!

Slivkoniv throws a right and a left that both miss.

Slivkoniv shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Zhukov is squirming around, avoiding Slivkoniv's attempts to control the action.

Zhukov wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Slivkoniv.
Slivkoniv wants to control the pace but Zhukov is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Slivkoniv is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Zhukov to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Zhukov shrugs it off.
Zhukov wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zhukov can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Zhukov somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Slivkoniv scores a takedown into full mount!

A right-left combo lands from Zhukov.
Slivkoniv will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Zhukov throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Slivkoniv crashing down! Slivkoniv tries to stagger back to his feet but Zhukov just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Slivkoniv asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
