Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Maia moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Maia dives in and grabs Silva's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes down on Maia's head and hops out.
Maia shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Glen Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva throws a one two combo.
Maia shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side.
Glen Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demian Maia.
Silva swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Maia defends it easily.

Maia slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Maia wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well.
Maia stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Silva closes the distance and lands a one-two.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Silva tries to bum rush Maia with a series of wild strikes but Maia uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Silva gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Maia slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Maia's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Silva is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Maia is aware though and is defending well.

Maia working for a guillotine from mount but Silva is in no mood to give up.
Maia is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Silva to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Silva shrugs it off.
Silva regains half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Maia pulls his head out easily.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silva has gone for a leg lock! Maia slips out almost immediately though and dives into Silva's guard.
Maia is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Maia stands and throws Silva's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Silva tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Maia wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Maia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
