PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Iverson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trainor Trainer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Iverson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sick Puppies- This Is War. Dustin Iverson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dustin Iverson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trainor Trainer!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iverson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Trainer on the side of the head.
Iverson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Trainer moves away.
Iverson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Iverson digs a good body shot into Trainer's ribs.
Trainer moves forwards but Iverson connects with a nice, crisp jab.


It looks like Trainor Trainer has been cut.
Iverson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Trainer's hands.
Trainer keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Trainer fails with a takedown attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Trainer scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Trainer moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Iverson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Iverson stops Trainer from passing to mount.
Trainer takes a little break here. Iverson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Trainer is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Iverson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Trainer wants to control but Iverson is keeping him busy.
Trainer might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Iverson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Trainer looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Iverson is avoiding damage well.

Iverson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Trainer on the ground.

Trainer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Trainer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Trainer's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Iverson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Trainer scrambles back to his feet.
Iverson feints a jab promting Trainer to slip. Iverson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Trainer slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Iverson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Trainer takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Trainer closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Iverson did well to prevent Trainer getting side control.
Trainer not doing much here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Trainer not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Trainer is looking to take a break and control but Iverson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Trainor Trainer hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Iverson moves out of range of the body kick.
Iverson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Trainer shoots in and drives through. Iverson sprawls well.
Iverson clobbers Trainer with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Iverson falls off balance throwing a combination

and Trainer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Iverson won't be happy with that.

Iverson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Trainer.
Iverson can't do much from the bottom here.

Trainer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Iverson, who protects the arm well.

Trainer goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Iverson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Trainer but great work by Iverson.
Trainer can't do much from the bottom here.
Trainer manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Iverson is refusing to be controlled, as Trainer sits in half guard.
Iverson wants to get back to his feet.

Iverson scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Trainer manages to mount him!
Iverson is squirming around, avoiding Trainer's attempts to control the action.
Trainer is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Trainor Trainer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Trainer shoots in but Iverson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Iverson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Trainer has time to react.

Trainer rushes Iverson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Trainer jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Iverson walks away with a smile on his face. Trainer gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Dustin Iverson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trainor Trainer.
Iverson connects with the punch.
Trainer scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Trainer has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Iverson throws a right hand that Trainer ducks under and follows up with a left that Trainer also avoids with ease.

Trainer takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Iverson throws a right hand that Trainer ducks under and follows up with a left that Trainer also avoids with ease.

Trainer tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Iverson swivels and escapes.
Trainer shoots in and drives through. Iverson sprawls well.
Trainer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Iverson cracks Trainer with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Iverson closes the distance and pushes Trainer back into the cage.

Trainer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Iverson looks to land a combination. Trainer sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Iverson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Iverson wants it to stay on the feet.
Iverson lands a jab-cross combination.
Iverson misses with a wild combination.
Iverson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Trainer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Trainer scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Iverson wants to control but Trainer is keeping busy.
Trainer throwing shots but Iverson is blocking nicely.
Dustin Iverson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Trainer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Iverson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Trainer.
Iverson wants to control but Trainer is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dustin Iverson.
