Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Newman Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Newman Ferguson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferguson gets the takedown into side control.

Ferguson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Roberts displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ferguson throws out the jab.

Ferguson shoots in and bounces Roberts off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Roberts thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Ferguson gets to his feet. Roberts looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Ferguson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Roberts.

Ferguson is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ferguson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Roberts sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Ferguson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Ferguson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Roberts is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ferguson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Roberts's back instead.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
