PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sylar Gray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Kremer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gray comes into the arena with Saving me blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sylar Gray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Kremer!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gray misses with a series of wild punches.
Gray throws a right hand that Kremer ducks under and follows up with a left that Kremer also avoids with ease.
Gray throws a hook to the side of Kremer's head but Kremer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gray stuns Kremer with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Kremer dives in and scores a takedown into Gray's guard.
Gray is pulling down on Kremer's head. It's preventing any offense from Kremer, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kremer thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gray controlling the position.

Sylar Gray has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Gray misses with a left hand

and Kremer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kremer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gray swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kremer won't allow Gray to sweep him here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kremer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gray is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kremer thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kremer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gray manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kremer has Gray in his guard.

Kremer has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gray is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kremer.
Kremer can't do much from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gray is staying tight to Kremer's torso, preventing him from escaping.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matt Kremer will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Gray misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

so Kremer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kremer drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gray looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gray looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gray!
Kremer can't do much from the bottom here.
Gray wants to control but Kremer is keeping him busy.

Kremer manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Kremer is looking for a kimura here.

Kremer is looking for a kimura but Gray is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kremer to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kremer seems to be looking for submissions.

Kremer seems to be working for a kimura but Gray defends the submission attempt.

Kremer is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gray sees it coming and defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gray wants to get back to full guard but Kremer has passed into side control.

Kremer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gray, who protects the arm well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gray is looking for a sweep.

Kremer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Kremer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Kremer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gray leaves Kremer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Kremer counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Kremer is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kremer is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kremer is working for a submission of some sort.

Gray makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kremer shoots in for a takedown but Gray shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A left lands for Gray.


It looks like Matt Kremer has been cut.
Gray throws the left hand but Kremer avoids the punch easily.
Gray fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kremer manages to avoid it.
Gray takes a swing at Kremer's ribcage but misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
An inside leg kick lands from Gray.
Gray lands a body shot.
Gray throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gray with a nice cross.
Gray throws an overhand right that has Kremer reeling! Gray follows up with more punches and Kremer is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Sylar Gray!
After winning the bout, Sylar Gray thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
