Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ari Birmiski!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn throws a sloppy body shot

and Birmiski counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Penn is trying to drag Birmiski to the mat but Birmiski just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Birmiski on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Birmiski shoots in but Penn avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Birmiski throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Penn sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Penn cracks a nice hook into Birmiski's ribs.
Birmiski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Birmiski counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Penn misses with a shot to the body
and Birmiski connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Penn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Birmiski will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Penn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Birmiski moves away.

and Birmiski counters with a right hand to the body.

Penn lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Birmiski takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Birmiski shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Penn pinned against the cage. Penn gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Penn tries to clinch there but Birmiski circles away.

Birmiski moves out of range as Penn strikes.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Birmiski, right into the meat.
Penn lands with a hook. Birmiski tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Penn wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Penn slips a jab and a cross from Birmiski.
Sloppy strikes from Penn. Those never looked like landing.

Penn is looking to wear down Birmiski with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Penn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Birmiski was well out of range. Poor timing from Penn.
Penn's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Birmiski connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Penn scrambles back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
