PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill Boris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Li comes into a darkened arena with his song building. 2pac - hit em up kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! John Li has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Boris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Li!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Li takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Boris connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Li shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Boris but Boris pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Li feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Li postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Boris is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Li, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Li tries to improve position but can't.

Boris decides to stand back up. Boris steps back and let's Li get back to his feet.
John Li seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Boris.
Li is looking to regain half guard here but Boris keeps moving and retains side control.
Li sneaks back into half guard.

Boris takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Li makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Li.

Boris is pressing down on Li's thigh, looking to free his foot. Li is holding on for now.

Li is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Boris pulls his head out easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bill Boris will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Boris connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Li changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Boris fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bill Boris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Li.

Boris drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Li is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Boris is tapping! Great win for Li!

A relieved looking John Li thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
