Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between JB Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Chalas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, JB Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luis Chalas!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chalas fails with the takedown.
Chalas goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Costa gets a double leg takedown into Chalas's guard.

Costa has gone for a leg lock! Chalas slips out almost immediately though and dives into Costa's guard.
Chalas missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Chalas in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Costa working for a triangle but Chalas defends it easily.

Costa is looking for a triangle but Chalas pushes his legs off easily.

Costa looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Chalas passes into side control.
Costa looking for a sweep but Chalas has passed into full mount! Oh no!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chalas lands a big shot there that rocks Costa but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Chalas prevents Costa from getting the reversal.
Chalas wants to control the pace but Costa is squirming around nicely.
Costa is looking to get to half guard.
Costa is working hard here to advance position.
Costa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chalas on the ground.
Chalas trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Costa tries to reverse the position but Chalas maintains control.

Costa is looking to get to half guard.

Chalas lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Costa is looking to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Costa looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Costa turns into Chalas and is now in his guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Costa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chalas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Costa has Chalas in his guard.

Chalas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Costa throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Chalas escapes and throws Costa's legs to the side, diving into side control!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Costa tries to buck Chalas off but Chalas is having none of it.
Costa tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Chalas presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Costa is looking to get to half guard.
Chalas is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Costa tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Chalas wants to control the pace but Costa is squirming around nicely.
Costa working to try and regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Costa tries to improve his position but instead Chalas has taken his back!
Costa tries to escape the position.
Costa turns into Chalas and is now in his guard.

Costa has gone for a leg lock! Chalas slips out almost immediately though and dives into Costa's guard.

Costa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chalas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chalas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Costa is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Costa working for submissions but it's allowed Chalas to get to half guard.
Chalas is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that JB Costa will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Costa keeps the fight on the outside.
Chalas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Costa fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Chalas to the ground. Costa is now in Chalas's guard.
Costa postures up.

Costa drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chalas looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chalas looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chalas!
Costa looking for a sweep but Chalas has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Costa bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Chalas tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Costa is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chalas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chalas has escaped and now he's on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Costa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chalas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Chalas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Costa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chalas has managed to get both his arms back between Costa's legs - danger averted.
Chalas wants to control from the top but Costa keeps moving.
Costa has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Chalas has passed into side control.

Chalas is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Costa is trying to escape and Chalas transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Costa is forced to tap! Nice work there by Chalas! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Luis Chalas!
Luis Chalas was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
