Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ming Maoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ming Maoki could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Adam West's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adam West!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West lands with a right hand.
Adam West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
West throws a right and a left that both miss.
West lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by West.


It looks like Ming Maoki has been cut.
West lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
West throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
West lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maoki circles away quickly and effectively.
West connects with the punch.
Maoki misses with an uppercut.

Maoki gets the takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maoki is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but West is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

West throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Maoki looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? West is fending him off so far but Maoki persists. Nope, West circles away and we're back to standing.

West takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
West feints a jab promting Maoki to slip. West then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Maoki slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
West is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
West displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Maoki.

West throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
West is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Maoki rather than just go for the knockout.

and West counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Maoki thinking.

Maoki closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

West uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Maoki has time to react.

West lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Maoki feints and as West raises his hands in defense, Maoki changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Maoki is breathing heavily.

West kicks Maoki off and gets to his feet.
West throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Maoki.
West looks to land a combination. Maoki sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
West avoids a kick to the body.
West misses with a wild combination.
Nice takedown defense from West. No joy for Maoki on that attempt.
West lands a jab-cross combination.


Ming Maoki's cut is getting worse.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

West leaves Maoki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Maoki has managed to clinch.
West prevents a takedown attempt there.
Maoki goes for a takedown in the clinch but West prevents it.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
