PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Seany Scholes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickey Arroyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scholes comes into the arena with Wonderwall - Oasis blaring out of the sound system. Arroyo has chosen Slayer - Raining Blood as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Seany Scholes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Mickey Arroyo!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arroyo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Arroyo drives through with a takedown into Scholes's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Scholes has his foot on Arroyo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Arroyo works his way back into a safe position though.

Arroyo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scholes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Scholes drops back, looking for a kneebar! Arroyo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Arroyo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Arroyo!
Scholes tries to buck Arroyo off but Arroyo is having none of it.

Arroyo decides to stand back up. Arroyo steps back and let's Scholes get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Scholes gets caught flat footed, as Arroyo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

A close round but Mickey Arroyo will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Scholes shoots for a double leg takedown but Arroyo sprawls well. He's pushed Scholes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Arroyo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Scholes to the ground. Arroyo is now in Scholes's guard.
Arroyo wants to get up but he can't break Scholes's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Scholes had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Arroyo defends it easily.

Mickey Arroyo has got the better of the ground game so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Scholes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Arroyo tries to avoid it but Scholes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Arroyo to the ground. Arroyo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Scholes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Arroyo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Scholes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Arroyo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Arroyo's back!

Scholes is persistently looking for the submission but Arroyo is defending it well.
Arroyo needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mickey Arroyo.

Scholes throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Arroyo tries to break the clinch but Scholes is controlling the position.

Arroyo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Arroyo stuffs the takedown attempt from Scholes. Scholes gets slowly back to his feet.
Scholes shoots in looking for a takedown. Arroyo tries to sprawl out of it but Scholes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Arroyo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Seany Scholes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Scholes shoots in for a takedown but Arroyo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mickey Arroyo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Arroyo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
