PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ragnarok Laturi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Simon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Laturi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Amon Amarth - Guardians of Asgaard. Simon has chosen Down With The Sickness as his entrance music. Ragnarok Laturi could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Steve Simon's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laturi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Laturi throws a push kick but Simon slaps the foot to one side.
Ragnarok Laturi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Laturi connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Laturi keeps Simon at a distance using the push kick.
Laturi throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

It looks like Steve Simon has been cut.
Laturi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Laturi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Good leg kick by Laturi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Simon throws a right and a left that both miss.
Simon takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Simon looks gassed!
Laturi misses with a few strikes there.
Laturi moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Laturi throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A head kick lands from Laturi that sends Simon to the canvas. Simon tries to scramble back to his feet but Laturi brings him back down into side control.

Simon is rocked!

Laturi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Simon is still in real trouble! Can Laturi finish him?
Simon wants to get back to his feet.
Simon seems to have recovered his senses.

Laturi tries to advance to mount but can't.
Laturi tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Laturi throwing strikes but Simon manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Laturi tries to improve position but can't.
Laturi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Simon on the ground.
Laturi gets back to half guard.
Simon is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Simon prevents Laturi from improving his position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Simon is pressing down on Laturi's thigh, looking to free his foot. Laturi is holding on for now.
Simon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Simon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Laturi is just riding it out for now. Simon eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Laturi tries to get to full guard but Simon has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Laturi throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Laturi punching from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Laturi throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Simon's head.
Laturi scores with a hook to the body. Simon takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Laturi cracks Simon with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Laturi looks to land a combination. Simon sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Laturi lands with a big left! Simon is wobbled badly! Laturi comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Simon to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
