PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darby Dobbler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Van der lie silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dobbler comes into the arena with House of Pain - Jump Around blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Darby Dobbler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dobbler misses with a few strikes there.
Dobbler looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

silva stands up from Dobbler's guard - silva perhaps looking for a knockout.

silva forces Dobbler back against the cage and clinches.

silva darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

silva decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Dobbler fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with silva, pushing him back against the cage.

Dobbler manages to pull guard.
silva looking to sit in guard and control but Dobbler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dobbler pulls silva in close to his closed guard and prevents silva from doing any damage or advancing position.

Dobbler can't keep his opponent in guard - silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Dobbler is looking for a sweep. silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dobbler slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

silva stands and throws Dobbler's legs to the side, diving into side control.

silva is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dobbler has escaped the position, nice work there.

Dobbler parries the strikes from silva easily there. silva is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dobbler to escape.

silva decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

silva jumps guard and drags Dobbler to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Dobbler slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

silva is trying desperately to improve position.
silva wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Dobbler is punishing silva with strikes - can he finish him?!
Dobbler is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
silva tries to escape but Dobbler has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
silva breaks Dobbler's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Dobbler had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. silva is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Dobbler Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take silva's back instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Van der lie silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Dobbler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

silva decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Dobbler looking to control but instead silva has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Dobbler thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed silva's head.

Dobbler is trying to control the action in half guard but silva is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Dobbler works over silva with some ground and pound from guard.
silva trying to keep a closed guard but Dobbler is proving a slippery customer.
silva is looking to stand up but Dobbler isn't so interested in that idea.

silva has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

silva wriggles free and stands up.
Dobbler cracks silva with a good jab.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
silva has a takedown stuffed.
silva throws a head kick that misses.
Dobbler fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dobbler shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and silva counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dobbler will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
