The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hattori gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Sakuraba counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hattori won't be happy with that.

Sakuraba unloads with some shots from mount but Hattori bucks and avoids them well.
Sakuraba is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hattori has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hattori!
Sakuraba has his foot on Hattori's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hattori works his way back into a safe position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sakuraba escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hattori gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sakuraba is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Hattori frees his head nicely. Oh but Sakuraba has switched to an armbar! Hattori is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
