PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luke Hilton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kreg Yamovitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Hilton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kreg Yamovitch!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamovitch lands a right hook to the body.
Yamovitch tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hilton paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hilton fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hilton misses with a looping left.
Yamovitch with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hilton to score with a decent uppercut.
Yamovitch on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
A left and a right from Yamovitch both land. Nice combination.
Luke Hilton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Yamovitch darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Hilton is looking to improve his position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yamovitch wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hilton keeps working.
Yamovitch might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hilton kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Yamovitch is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hilton is looking to control Yamovitch's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hilton avoid being mounted?

Yamovitch wants to work for an arm triangle but Hilton is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hilton is looking for a sweep. Yamovitch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hilton is trying to control but can't.

Yamovitch is nestled in close to Hilton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Yamovitch is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hilton sees it coming and defends easily.
Hilton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yamovitch is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The fighters are battling for position here. Hilton manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Hilton is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Hilton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Yamovitch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Yamovitch slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Yamovitch tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Yamovitch has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hilton regains half guard.
Hilton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hilton has his hands clasped together around Yamovitch's back. He's all about the action.

Hilton is trying to control but can't.

Yamovitch working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Hilton desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Yamovitch wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hilton keeps working.
Hilton wants to control but Yamovitch is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hilton is not content to let Yamovitch control the position.
Hilton is pressing down on Yamovitch's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hilton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yamovitch is one step ahead there.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kreg Yamovitch will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Yamovitch will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hilton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Yamovitch sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Yamovitch lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hilton!

Hilton is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Yamovitch is posturing up here but Hilton has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Yamovitch tries to roll out but it's too tight and Yamovitch has to tap! Slick submission there by Hilton!
