Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bryce Asher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Stephenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Stephenson!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Lou da Vinci and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stephenson moves in looking to clinch but Asher pushes him off.
Stephenson tries to bum rush Asher with a series of wild strikes but Asher uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Stephenson keeps the fight on the outside.
No joy there for Stephenson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Asher takes the fight into the clinch.

Stephenson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sloppy strikes from Stephenson. Those never looked like landing.
Stephenson tries to clinch there but Asher circles away.
Asher misses with a kick to the body.
Stephenson misses with a wild combination.
Asher connects with a high kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Asher misses the target.
Asher takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Asher shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stephenson as he avoids it easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Asher walks into a stiff left hand from Stephenson.
Asher closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Stephenson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Asher swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Asher drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Stephenson is trying to control Asher's posture but Asher avoids it.
Stephenson gets back to half guard.
Stephenson is trying to get back to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stephenson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Asher wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stephenson keeps working.
Asher seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Asher stands up from half guard.
Stephenson tries to close the distance and clinch but Asher swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Asher dodges the punch combination from Stephenson.
Stephenson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Asher looks for a takedown but Stephenson sprawls well.
Stephenson wants to clinch up but Asher keeps it at a distance.

Stephenson throws a right and a left that both miss.

Stephenson tries to clinch there but Asher circles away.
Donk. Stephenson catches Asher right on the button with a cross.
Asher moves in looking to clinch but Stephenson pushes him off.
Stephenson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Asher moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Asher tries to clinch up but Stephenson circles away and keeps his distance.

Asher clinches up against the cage.

Asher pulls guard successfully.
Stephenson wants to get up but he can't break Asher's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stephenson looks gassed!

Stephenson won't allow Asher to sweep him here.

Asher shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stephenson pinned against the cage. Stephenson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Asher looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Asher shoots in but Stephenson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Stephenson throws the kick towards the body but Asher avoids it.

Asher prevents Stephenson from breaking the clinch.

Asher lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stephenson circles away quickly and effectively.
A nice combination there by Stephenson.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stephenson misses with a double jab
and Asher counters with a big head kick but Stephenson shrugs it off.
Stephenson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Joe Stephenson seems to be getting the better of the standup.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stephenson blocks a head kick by Asher.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Stephenson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Asher closes the distance and clinches up with Stephenson, looking for a takedown. Asher pushes Stephenson against the cage but Stephenson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Asher ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Asher no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Stephenson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Joe Stephenson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Stephenson, as that shot connected.

Stephenson moves away from the strike by Asher.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Asher misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stephenson lands a head shot.
Asher fails with an attempt to clinch.
Joe Stephenson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Asher misses with a wild body shot.
Asher will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Stephenson lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Asher goes down and covers up as Stephenson starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Stephenson!
Joe Stephenson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
