Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George St Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from St Pierre. Hase does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hase is looking to clinch.
Hase tries to score a power double leg takedown but St Pierre sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hase somewhat.
Hase misses with the combination.
St Pierre misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hase throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
St Pierre tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hase swivels and escapes.
Hase throws a right hand that St Pierre ducks under and follows up with a left that St Pierre also avoids with ease.
Hase closes this distance looking for a takedown but St Pierre circles away.

St Pierre has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from St Pierre there as he acknowledges the shot.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from St Pierre is defended easily by Hase.

and St Pierre counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by St Pierre.

St Pierre tightens his grip and picks Hase up, before dumping him to the ground. Hase manages to land in guard.
Hase knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for St Pierre on the ground.
St Pierre prevents Hase from getting back to his feet.
St Pierre seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Hase manages to escape and get back to his feet.

St Pierre lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hase rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but St Pierre moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hase throws a series of punches but St Pierre moves out of range.
Hase stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hase wants it to stay on the feet.
St Pierre avoids the head kick by Hase.

Hase throws an uppercut from half a mile away. St Pierre sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hase cracks St Pierre with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
St Pierre shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hase as he avoids it easily.
Hase throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around St Pierre's waist but St Pierre gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hase off to one side.
St Pierre slips a jab and a cross from Hase.
Hase uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by St Pierre.

St Pierre jumps guard and drags Hase to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

St Pierre has his foot on Hase's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hase works his way back into a safe position though.
St Pierre trying to keep a closed guard but Hase is proving a slippery customer.
Hase wants to stand but St Pierre is controlling his posture from full guard.
St Pierre is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. George St Pierre wasn't active enough on the ground.
Hase throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hase keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hiroshi Hase has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George St Pierre.
Hase's corner calls for a 1-2. Hase obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

St Pierre with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Hase is squirming around, avoiding St Pierre's attempts to control the action.
St Pierre is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

A close second round but George St Pierre will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


St Pierre shoots for a double leg takedown but Hase sprawls well. He's pushed St Pierre's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
St Pierre is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Hase lands a really nice looking cross but St Pierre seems unphased.


St Pierre is rocked!
Hase wobbles St Pierre with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Hase dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts St Pierre to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!
