Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guy Kopec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Taker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kopec's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Boats 'N Hoes. Guy Kopec has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jim Taker!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kopec dips to his left and cracks Taker with an uppercut!
Kopec catches Taker with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Jab by Kopec.
Taker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kopec moves away.

Kopec bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Taker! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


Taker is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kopec is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Taker is still in real trouble! Can Kopec finish him?

Kopec really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Taker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kopec controls the pace.

Kopec seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Taker shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kopec but Kopec pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jim Taker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Taker shoots in looking for a takedown. Kopec tries to sprawl out of it but Taker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kopec manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kopec is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Taker closes the distance and clinches up with Kopec, looking for a takedown. Taker pushes Kopec against the cage but Kopec circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Guy Kopec has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Taker.

Taker takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kopec enables Taker to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kopec manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kopec manages to escape and get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No joy there for Taker, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kopec throws a jab but it's blocked by Taker.

Kopec swings for the body but Taker moves out of range.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Taker seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Kopec is trying to stand up here but Taker is controlling him well.

Kopec throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Taker's waist but Taker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kopec off to one side.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Taker cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Taker is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kopec can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Taker is landing with some decent strikes but Kopec is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Kopec is bucking up trying to escape but Taker cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Oh Kopec is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Taker postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Kopec bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Taker and the fight is over!
