PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Katze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Minamoto Yoritomo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoritomo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by sunlounger & zara - lost (club mix). Minamoto Yoritomo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karl Katze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Minamoto Yoritomo!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Katze gets a clinch.

Katze tightens his grip and picks Yoritomo up, before dumping him to the ground. Yoritomo manages to land in guard.
Katze throws a strike but Yoritomo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Katze has his foot on Yoritomo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yoritomo works his way back into a safe position though.
Yoritomo is fighting to break Katze's control of his arms but Katze is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Katze is looking to sweep but instead, Yoritomo has passed into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Yoritomo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Katze drives through with a takedown into guard.

Katze looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yoritomo is one step ahead there.
Yoritomo wants to get up but he can't break Katze's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Katze is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Katze has control of Yoritomo's left arm, preventing Yoritomo from doing any damage.
Yoritomo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Katze closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Katze lands in his opponent's guard.

Katze drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Yoritomo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Katze has Yoritomo in his guard.

Katze turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Katze is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Yoritomo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Yoritomo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Yoritomo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Katze tries to avoid it but Yoritomo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Katze to the ground. Katze escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Yoritomo throws a right hand that Katze ducks under and follows up with a left that Katze also avoids with ease.
Yoritomo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Katze shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Katze was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Katze drops back, looking for a kneebar! Yoritomo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Yoritomo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Yoritomo!
